HK transport tops for touristsA survey has shown Hong Kong's transport network and its Immigration Department are the top attractions of the city by tourists.

A survey was conducted as to visitors' attitudes towards Hong Kong. Coming out top were the transport network and the Immigration Department.

The two scored 799 and 76.7 points, respectively, out of 100 in a poll of 2,841 tourists conducted from May to August this year.

In terms of tourism satisfaction, the scores put transportation and immigration ahead of attractions, which notched up 73.9 points, shopping with 73.2 and hotels with 72.4.

2. Great Wall's Mutianyu sectionmakes plans for more renovation

Foreign leaders with travel plans to scale the Great Wall might be excited about the Mutianyu section's plan to open up an additional 500 m next year.

"The main renovation and construction of the 502-m section is mostly complete now, but the monitoring system still needs to be installed," Yang Kaihuai, general manager of Mutianyu Great Wall Travel Service Corporate told Beijing Youth Daily on Monday.

Macao recorded a total number of 368,615 tourist arrivals during this year's Christmas holidays, according to the figures released on Monday by the Immigration Department of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

The figures showed that the number of tourist arrivals for this year's Christmas holidays, lasting from Dec. 24 to 27, was 0.73 percent less than the same period of last year.

Beijing is likely to report 240 billion yuan (35.1 billion U.S. dollars) in tourism revenue in 2009, up 8 percent from the previous year, a municipal tourism official said here Friday.
