Guilin (Chinese: 桂林; pinyin: Guìlín), capital of Guangxi Province,one of the most-visited Chinese cities,the scenery of Guilin has been called the finest under heaven.Guilin located in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guilin City is South China's shining pearl , with verdant mountains , elegant waters , magnificent crags and fantastic caverns. It has a total area of 2,000 sq.km. and a population of 680.000.Though there are a few hills in the city that can be explored, the Lí River cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo is the top attraction in town. Increasingly, Guilin is also being used as a base to visit the Yao, Miao, and Dong minority villages to the northwest. Lijiang River, a picturesque river well known both at home and abroad, is at its most beautiful starting from Guilin to Yangshuo, distancing 83 km.. Winding her way amidst the mountains and through villages. the Lijiang River adds a great charm to the picture-like landscape of Guilin, where people can see mountains with fantastic peaks, green and clear waters, and festoon-like fields.
Guilin also abounds in historical relics. Stone carving alone amounts to approximately 2,000 pieces. Of all the scenic spots in the city, Pu Tuo Hill, Crescent Moon Hill and Folded Brocade Hill possess the greatest number of these carvings. But crowning all is the Dragon Refuge Cave, which, as It Is lined with stelae, is properly called "Guilin Stelae Forest".
As a tourist destination second to none in China, Guilin will surely continue to attract ever more visitors from home and abroad.

Belonging
to the subtropical region,Guilin enjoys a Mild climate with sufficient
rainfall. Its yearly average temperature is 18.8'C, and the hottest
month, August, has an average temperature of 28'C, while the coldest
months, which are January and February are 8'C on the average. Du
Fu,a very famous poet of Tang Dynasty so said of its climate: "When
it is scorchingly hot everywhere in the Five Ridges, only Guilin
has temperate weather."

Guilin Transportation

By plane:
Flying is the most convenient way to arrive in and depart from Guilin. The city is directly connected to most major domestic cities and even Hong Kong, Japan, and Korea.
Guilin's new international airport is 30 kilometers west of the city (about a 40 minute taxi ride). Most large hotels have shuttles available (with prior notice). Other airport shuttles cost RMB20 and operate without a fixed schedule. A taxi into the city will cost around RMB80-RMB100. Leaving Guilin, CAAC runs buses from its Shanghai Road office (at Minzhu Road) to the airport.
By train:
Guilin is directly linked to Beijing (30 hours), Guangzhou (15 hours), Guiyang (18 hours), Kunming (28 hours), Shanghai (35 hours), and Xi'an (35 hours)...

Sightseeing,
cultural illumination and thrill seeking are all excellent reasons
to travel,but the real plum in exploring China is to experience local
cuisine. Gourmand tourists won't he disappointed with the Cuilin
region. Southern cuisine reigns supreme here with Guilin's cuisine
a mixture of Guangdang and Hunan styles. Special emphasis is placed
on Critters drawn from the Li River; specialties include exotic,such
as snake, dog and assorted types seafood should be the most unusual
you encounter.
Well-known area specialties include stuffed snails is and pijiuyu :a local catfish simmered in a delicious beer broth...
