Located in the eastern of Yungui Plateau, southeast of China, Guiyang is home to minority ethnic groups. Being capital city, Guiyang is political, economic and cultural center of Guizhou province. Guiyang is increasingly becoming a popular tourist destination and attracting more and more travelers.

Guiyang is suited at the south of the Guishan Mountain. In Chinese language, south, facing to the sun is called “Yang”, hence the name of Guiyang. In ancient times, Guiyang teems with bamboos and was famous for producing musical instrument known as Zhu, hence its short mane”Zhu”.

Guiyang is home to more than 30 minority ethnic groups, including Buyi, Miao, Hui, Tong and more. Therefore, it is an ideal city to see unique folk culture of China. Every minority has its own characteristics and special festivals. It will be very interesting if you can catch a chance to join some festival of those minorities. Festival of 8th April, 3th March and 6th June are embodied with unique folk and young people can express their love to their sweethearts during these festivals.

The environment of Guiyang is fresh and clean. It is surrounded by mountains in four sides. The green belt, making a great contribution to air quality of the city, is in width to 1 to 7 kilometers and in length 70 kilometers. Guiyang is acclaimed to be the Forest City. Guiyang has a total forest area of 275 hectares, accounting for 31.7% of the city's total land area. In addition, thanks to its subtropical climate, the city is in green all the year round and covered with flowers in three seasons.

Guiyang abounds with tourism resources. As the typical area of Karst, Guiyang integrates green mountains, clear waters, strange rocks, peculiar grottoes and secluded forests, which set off each other and form spectacular scenery. There are lots of cultural and historical heritages such as Qingyan ancient town, Wenchang pavilion, Hongfu temple and Xifeng Concentration Camp. In addition, you will be amazed at the simple and unsophisticated folk cultures and peculiar costumes and ornaments of minorities.

Guiyang Climate
Guiyang belongs to pleasant moist subtropical climate with abundant sunlight and ample rainfall. The air is humid and fresh and it is free from sandstorm all the year round. It is neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter. The annual average temperature is 15 centigrade, with the highest average temperature 24 centigrade in July and the lowest 5 centigrade in January. Guiyang is regarded to have the most pleasant climate in China.

Guiyang Dining
Guiyang snacks are various and savory. There are more than 100 kinds of traditional local foods, with snack booths dotting with streets and alleys. The most tasty and interesting snacks in Guiyang are Bean Curd in Love, Sliced Vegetable Baby, Bean Curd Dumpling and more.

The Bean Curd in Love is a kind of famous snacks with very interesting name. The method of this snack is special. A piece of bean curd is cut into two pieces with vegetables and sliced meats stuffed it, and then it will be toasted to be golden. Drops of sesame oil will be sprinkled on it, making it smells fresh and fragrant. It tastes more delicious with vinegar, pepper and shallot. It is said that lovers like to share with it, hence its special and interesting name.

Sliced Vegetable Baby is another delicious snack. It is a cake made of flour and stuffed with vegetables. Local people have it altogether with sour and spicy juices. It takes the shape of a baby in swaddling clothes; therefore, it is derived from its name.

The 6th June is an important traditional festival for Buyi people. Every year on this day, thousands upon thousands Buyi people gather at riverside, passing through dense forests, floating on boats and singing songs. Young people will seize the opportunity to express their love to the person he loved.

Bullfighting in Guiyang is wonderful. Different from the Bullfighting in Spanish which is a fight between person and bull, the Bullfighting in Guiyang is a fight between bulls. Before the fights begin, bulls taking part in the activity are tied with red clothes on their heads and beautiful quilts on their backs, walking around the fighting field. People’s acclaims together with the sound of firecracker and musical instrument, making it is more spectacular and interesting. The fighting skills of bulls are really worthy your applauses.
