Brief Geographic location
 Henan Province is located in eastern central China, on the plain between the Yellow and Huaihe rivers. As most part of the province lies to the south of the Yellow River, which runs for over 700 km through its territory, it was given the name Henan (River South). Neighboring Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Hubei, Anhui and Shandong provinces, Henan covers an area of 167,000 sq km.

Climate
 Henan has a continental climate of the north temperate zone, with hot, rainy summer, dry, inclement winter and windy spring. It has a mean annual temperature of 13㣭15C, increasing from north to south, an annual frost-free period of 6-8 months, and a mean annual precipitation of 600-900 mm, also increasing from north to south.

 The caves got the name Long men,which means"Dragon Gate,"because the two mountains appear as a gate with the Yi River running through it,and when the Sui dynasty emperor built his palace in Luoyang, it faced the mountain"Gate."The Longmen Caves comprise 1300 caves adorned with 100,000 statues. Many experts consider them the artistic triumph of Buddhist stone carving.Sculpturing began in 473 when the emperor of the Northern Wei Dynasty moved his capital from Datong to Luoyang.

  Shaolin Temple is probably the most famous temple in China, not only because of its long history and its role in Chinese Buddhism, but also because of its martial arts or Wushu Chan. Shaolin Temple is situated in the beautiful Songshan Mountains, which is only eight miles of Dengfeng and about 50 miles southwest of Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province.Shaolin Temple was established in 495 during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534). Batuo, an Indian monk, came to Luoyang, the ancient capital, for spreading Buddhism at that period. Emperor Xiaowen was a believer of Buddhism so he decided to build the temple in the Songshan Mountains to house Batuo, who translated many Buddhist works and had a few hundred followers there.

 South Putuo Temple was first built in the Tang Dynasty and is one of the sacred places of Buddhism in Southern Fujian.It is situated below the Five Old Gentlemen Peaks in the southern part of the island of Xiamen. The temple attracts a large number of pilgrims at home and from abroad.

  Built in 68 A.D. this temple is the first Buddhist Temple in China. Legend has that two famous monks of India brought sutra on "White Horses" to China. Therefore, named "White Horses" Temple. In front of main gate there are pair of stone statue of "White Horses".
