Phoenix ancient Town
Surrounded by mountains and rivers, Phoenix Town is located in the western part of Central China's Hunan Province, south of the Tujia and Miao prefectures.Phoenix Town's history can be traced back to the Qin Dynasty (221-206BC). During ancient times it was called "Wu Gan," before being changed to its present Feng Huang name in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).The phoenix (feng huang in Chinese) is a mythological creature that is a symbol of the sun. Phoenix Town (Feng Huang Cheng) is so called as legend has it that once two phoenixes flew over the town and found it town so beautiful that they hovered above it, reluctant to leave. Phoenix Town is a small city in the western part of Central China's Hunan Province. For tourists, Phoenix Town is a Chinese dream; a wonderland of ancient mysteries.
Yellow dragon cave

Yellow dragon cave
Yellow dragon cave
Yellow dragon cave locates at the northern foot of Qixia Ridge. Yellow Dragon Cave was originally called as Protect C the C Nation Benevolent King Cave, No Gate Cave or Yellow Dragon Pool. It got the name from the legend that a Southeren Song monk from Yellow Dragon Hill in Jiangxi Province came and decided to build a temple here. One day, suddenly a yellow dragon appeared and hit the ground strongly. Then, a big rock cracked in the middle like dragon mouth and a spring gushed out from it. Moreover, Yellow Dragon Cave seems to be dressed in green with green bamboo growing in the surrounding hills. Various kinds of bamboo are available around the cave, such as black bamboo, square bamboo etc. On a green huge high steep rock, there is a spring issuing from the mouth of the yellow dragon and tricking down into the pool below. A famous quotation was engraved beside the spring: Regardless the depth, Divine is the dragon pool. Near the pool, there two nice pavilions called Fragrant Snow and Cranes Stopover. Now this garden also is served as a folk custom display and entertainment side. When you enter the courtyard, you will see the musicians in the ancient uniform play the Chinese traditional musical instruments.
Tianzi Peak
Tianzi Peak
Tianzi Peak
Tianzi Peak
Tianzi Mountain is named after Xiang Dakun who led the local farmers' revolt and called himself Tianzi---the Son of Heaven. Bounded by Suoxi Valley on the east, Zhangjiajie on the south, Sangzhi County on the north, Tianzi Mountain is one of the four scenic zones in Wulingyuan. It lies on the highest point of "Golden Triangle", its highest point being 1262.5m(Kunlun peak) and lowest point being 534m(Shilan valley). It has an area of 67 square kilometers, a touring line of 45 kilometers, an average temperature of 12oC, an annual waterfall of 1800 mm, a frost-free period of 240 days and a frozen period of 60-80 days. Except a layer of limestone and a few areolate stones at the peak, some hundred meters above sea level, the majority of scenic spots is formed of quart stones, belonging to sandstone ground feature which is the same as Suoxiyu Valley and Zhangjiajie. The 500-meter or 600-meter thick quartzite sandstone has evolved from neptunic rocks that subsided from oceans 380,000,000 years ago and after a complicated and long process formed strangely shaped spectacles. To sum up, the landscape in Tianzi Mountain is natural and primeval. Every scenic spot is created by nature and of no artificial trace. There are not only primeval forests and beautiful water but also plain folkways, special customs and local specialities and delicacies awaiting tourists from home and abroad. No wonder people make comments, like " people who have climbed Tianzi Mountain will not climb any other mountains" and "It can not be said that you have been to Wulingyuan without reaching Tianzi Mountain".
