Hanshan Temple
Built in the Liang period (502-557) of the Southern Dynasty, Hanshan Temple sits at Fengqiao Town of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Originally named Miaolipumingta, the temple was later given its present name because Han Shan, an eminent monk in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), had lived there. The temple compound is a scene of luxuriant green creating a secluded atmosphere. The buildings in it are in an unadorned and natural style. In the center of the compound stands Mahavira Hall. Behind the hall stretches a wooden corridor, at the end of which stands a small tower with a wall behind and a stream in front. Hanshan Temple has been famous since the Tang Dynasty. It owes its eminence to a poem entitled "Mooring for the Night at Fengqiao Bridge" by Zhang Ji (A Tang Dynasty poet) as well as the toll of the bell in the temple. The line of the poem "a toll is resounding at midnight" makes the temple an appeal to many people and the toll is said to have been the way for Han Shan and his apprentice Shi De to communicate their lingering affection for each other.

Qinhuai River
The Qinhuai River runs through Nanjing and divided the city into the Inner River and the Outer River. Since ancient times, the river has fostered numerous beautiful sights and sounds, poems and stories in southern China. It was well known for its picturesque scenery in ancient times with houses and halls on both sides of the river, green windows and red doors reflected in the moonlit rippled water on top of the other. The sounds of water lapping gently against boats and oars formed a kind of light music. The scenery was especially magnificent on grand occasions with boats lighted by beautiful lanterns winding their ways like a floating, flaming dragon. Fortunately, these ancient charming sights and charms have been brought alive after years of restoration on purpose by the municipality of Nanjing.

Tai Lake
Tai Lake, known as "Seismic Pool" in ancient time, is one of the five freshwater lakes. It has an area of 2420 square kilometers with the lake coastline of 400 kilometers long, thus winning the fame of "Eight Hundred Li Big Lake".There are more than 60 kinds of fish and aquatic and other resources in abundance. Among the famous aquatic products are whitebait (salangid), whitefish, mandarin fish, white shrimp, etc. Riding on a boundless expanse of blue water, 48 isles and peninsulars and 91 peaks are emerging from the waves, known as "the 72 Peaks" with the East and West Hills of Dongting, Maji (horse-hoof prints) Hill, Shan (three) Hill and Yuan Tou Islet as the most famous among all. The Shan Hill Park has become the most famous scenic spot for tourism in the Tai Lake.Boating on the Tai Lake is a tourist special feast in Wuxi City. On the endless expanse of blue water, sometimes, the waves roll upon waves, sometimes it becomes quiet like a mirror glittering on the lake with the 72 peaks dimly visible afar riding the waves ups and downs. They make the green hills and clear waters of the Tai Lake look as attractive and beautiful as a piece of picturesque scenery with waves rolling upon waves and hills overlapping on one another. It is indeed a scene majestic in all its variety.
