Brief Geographic location
 Jiangxi, also called "Gan" for short, is one of China's inland provinces. It is located in the southeastern part of the country, on the southern bank of the Yangtze River, between 2429'-3004' north latitude and 11334'-11828east longitude. It borders Zhejiang and Fujian in the east, Guangdong in the south, Hunan in the west and Hubei and Anhui in the north, covering a total area of 166,900 sq km.

Climate
 Jiangxi has a sub-tropical climate, warm and humid. It has a mean annual temperature of 16㣭20C, increasing from north to south, and a mean annual precipitation of 1,300-200 mm. Nanchang is one of the hottest cities in China.

 Poyang-hu is the largest freshwater lake in China. It is situated in the Jiangxi Province, approximately 50 km north of Nanchang. The Poyang flood plain is subject to massive changes in water level. In the dry season the size of the lake shrinks to less than 1.000 km2, and in the rainy season (late summer) the size of the lake grows up to 4.000 km2. The average depth is 8 m, the maximum depth is 23 m.

 Mount Lushan, located by the Poyang Lake, 36 kilometers south of? Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, covers an area of 350 square kilometers.Mount Lushan has plenty of scenic attractions, including the Wulaofeng (Five Elderly Men Peaks), Xianrendong (Immortal's Cavern) and the White Deer Cave Academy, which, situated on the Houping Hill south of the Five Elderly Men Peaks, was one of the earliest institutes of higher learning in China. It was first built by Li Bo, an official of Tang Dynasty (618-907) at the beginning of the seventh century and was extended during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). It was one of the four largest academies in China, and teachers such as Zhu Xi and Lu Xiangshan, philosophers of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), had many students here.

 The Xunyang Lou (Xunyang Pavilion) is located near the Xunyang River northeast of Jiujiang. It is a simple and graceful ancient pavilion with carved beam and painted rafter.Built in flourishing Tang Dynasty, the Xunyang Pavilion was a restaurant originally. It was repaired and rebuilt in Song Dynasty, now the pavilion people can see was rebuilt in 1986.It is a construction imitated construction of Song Dynasty. As high as 21 meters, it covers an area of 1,800 square meters. Looking outside, you will see it has three floors but indeed it has four floors in it.

 The Tengwang Pavilion, located on the bank of the Yangtze River, west of Nanchang City, is one of the three famous pavilions south of the Yangtze River (the other two are Yueyang Tower in Yueyang and Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan).The pavilion was built in AD 653, when Tengwang Li Yuanying (King Teng), a younger brother of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, was the governor of Nanchang. It was destroyed and rebuilt as many as 28 times until it was burned to ashes in 1926. In 1989, the pavilion was rebuilt again according to the style of architecture in the Song Dynasty. This nine-storied structure stands at 57.5 meters in height and occupies a construction area of 13,000 square meters with a 12-meter-long base symbolic of ancient city walls. Made of reinforced cement, the pavilion, featuring flying eaves and engraved beams, looks quite splendid.
