DID ANYONE SPEAK ENGLISH?

Certainly the tour guides and the hotel staffs did. Most of the locals can not. My driver in Beijing did not speak English. Many of the tourist shopkeepers spoke English. About what you'd expect. That said, English writing was everywhere. Almost all roadsigns and tourist shop signs had both Chinese and English. Many people wore shirts with English phrasing. I was surprised to see that all license plates were entirely English characters - no Chinese at all.

To Shaolin Temple, taking bus from Luoyang will take about 2 hours to arrive there. Due to no airport in Luoyang, you have to go to Luoyang by train.

The nearest airport to Shaolin Temple is in Zhenzhou city, it also will take 2 hours to arrive there from Zhengzhou by car.

Shaolin temple is
hometown of Kongfu

Shaolin Temple is believed to have been founded in the AD495 by Indian monk Ba Tuo on land given by the Northern Wei emperor for monks to focus on disciplines of their faith.

In AD 527,Bodhidharma visited and founded what became the Chan sect. According to popular lore, Bodhidharma crossed the Yellow River on a single reed then spent nine years meditating in a cave before entering the temple grounds. His shadow can still be seen in a nearby cave to this day, aptly named Bodhidharma’s Cave.

What is the most well-known in Shaolin Temple? Yes! Kongfu. Shaolin Kongfu is one of the most influential genres of Chinese martial art. The monks in the Shaolin Temple began to study martial art during the Southern and Northern Dynasties and this tradition prevailed during the Sui and the Tang dynasties (581-907).

Shaolin Kongfu involves various methods of fighting techniques. consisting of barehanded boxing and weaponry combat. Shaolin Kongfu is famous both at home and abroad as a highly effective method of self-defense and health-building.

Shaolin Kongfu is a very convenient sport, for the practice does not need a large space and is not affected by weather or the kind of weapons used.
