Taiji, a part of Chinese Wushu heritage, is not only an important element of Chinese culture, but functions as a bridge connecting cultures.

"During the years of promoting taiji in China, there has been a steady increase in growth. Since the proportion of older adults is increasing, more and more of them are taking responsibility for their health care by choosing healthier lifestyles.

Many have discovered the benefits to health and well being of practising taiji - not only on a physical level, but for mental and spiritual growth as well.

"It is taiji that made me feel comfortable about myself physically and mentally," said Mrs Yan, a sixty years old lady. "I also make wonderful friends here. We are very close to each other, like a family."

"Taiji is completely connected with Chinese culture, while Western exercise is only for the exercise," said Oliver Reimer, one of the instructors. "It has increased my knowledge of Chinese culture as well as Chinese history."
