Datong is the second largest city in the Shanxi Province, known as the coal capital (Meidu) in China. It's much smaller than Beijing. Datong's weather is much cooler and drier than Beijing. The train ride from Beijing to Datong was about 6 hours. It was not until 1,600 years ago that the city's luck turned. A group of nomadic Turkish people, the Toba, setting up their Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534 AD), decided to establish their capital at Datong. The Toba were to become fanatic Buddhists, as is shown from the carvings in the Yungang Grottoes, one of the most impressive cave sights in China.
Most travellers have been attracted by the town's ancient past.

The temple is a Northern Wei dynasty structure that clings precariously to the side of the Heng Shan mountain range. Caves carved into the cliffs or along natural contours make up the rooms and walkways, and bridges connect the different halls. Rain or shine, a few dozen slender beams acrobatically balance the temple and visitors walking on top of the narrow squeaky walkways.

Created in the 5th century AD (Six Dynasties period). They are located about 16 kilometers west of the city of Datong, near the northern border of Shanxi province. DAY2

Today you will behold and mount the astonishing Great Wall. After lunch coach along the Sacred Way to visit the Ming Tomb. The Tomb of Ming Dynasty with 500 year history located about 50 kilometers to the north of Beijing.Enjoy a famous Peking Roast Duck Banquet in Quanjude restaurant for dinner.

DAY3
Beijing     (B,L,D)
After breakfast, you will have a tour of Tian'anmen Square, the largest public square in the world, and sightseeing the extravagances of Chinese history in the Forbidden City--Imperial Palace. After lunch at Chinese restaurant, you visit the Summer Palace and take a boat ride on its Lake Kunming. Acrobatics show or Beijing Opera will be attended tonight.

DAY4
Beijing /Datong    (B,L,D)
Sightseeing of today includes the Temple of Heaven.After lunch,transfer to railway station to Datong(15:01- 20:30). At Datong , you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day5
Datong     ( B,L,D)
After breakfast in the morning,Bus drive to visit the hanging temple-it hangs on the west cliff of Jinxia Gorge more than 50 meters above the ground, so it is called Hanging Monastery.
After lunch ,visit the wooden Pagoda- It is regarded as the 'First Pagoda in the World' and a gem in the architectural field. Back to hotel.


DAY6
Datong / Beijing  (B)
In early morning,visit the Yungang Grotto. Afternoon take a train (12:27—18:32) back to Beijing(Soft Seat).At the train station,met by out guide and escorted to hotel.

DAY7
Depart Beijing  (B,L)
Sightseeing of today includes the Temple of Heaven.After lunch,transfer to the airport  fly back to sweet home.
