Sanya Brief

Sanya is a garden style seashore tourist city. Covering an area of 1919.58square kilometers, Sanya is located in the southernmost tip of Hainan province, with a population of 463,700. Sanya has more than 20 nationalities, including Han, Li, Miao, and Hui, so it is a good place to known about minority customs.

Sanya is an important port city of China and honored as “the south gate of China”. Thanks to its unique subtropical monsoon climate, fine ecological environment and fresh clean air, Sanya has the nickname of “oriental Hawaii”. It is acknowledged as one of the most livable cities of China and excellent tourist cities. What’s more, Sanya was the first Chinese city to receive the Olympic torch after its departure from Beijing.

Sanya, backed by mountains and facing the sea, is a city full of romantic atmosphere. Cape Tian Ya Hai Jiao and Lu Hui Tou are famous for their romantic legends. Tourists like to visit the two spots. Luhuitou is a place for lovers and many people leave a padlock on a chain at the top of the mountain in the hope that their love will last as long as the lock remains there.

Sanya is an idyllic paradise constituting of greenish water, sandy white beaches, verdant mountains, lines of coconut palms and beautiful flowers. The sea gives the city a sense of openness and the mountains bring a feeling of quietness. It is an excellent place for tourists escape from their business and completely relaxes. Yalong Bay has one of the best beaches in Sanya. Clean water reflecting blue sky and palm trees fill the beach front. It is a hot attraction for tourists from both home and abroad to soak up the sun.

Sanya Climate

Thanks to the tropical coastal monsoon climate, Sanya is an ideal place for living and spending holiday. The temperature is pleasantly warm even in the middle winter and the city is covered by blooming flowers all the year round. The annual temperature is 25.7C, with the highest monthly temperature at 28.7C in June and the lowest temperature at 21.4C in January. Sanya Food

Sanya is a city having close relationship with sea, so there is plenty of seafood. Both of the hotels and a number of roadside booths serve the freshest seafood. Abalone, sea cucumbers and sea urchins are three kinds of rare seafood in Sanya. Fresh is the most accurate word to describe the seafood of Sanya.
